Therapy

I help Black women whose lives have been interrupted by life-changing events (like divorce, trauma, parenting, a new empty nest, retirement, grief, and job or career stress) learn coping skills, increase life satisfaction, and get back to being the best version of themselves. Regardless of whether the changes are expected or unexpected, the impact of life events is real and sometimes painful. Anxiety and depression, and sometimes anger can show up, and become overwhelming. As a result, functioning at work suffers, relationships with family and friends become strained, and you can lose your sense of self. Through our work together, I will equip you with the right coping tools to build resilience and increase your confidence. We will work towards the change you want to see in yourself and in your life, such as functioning more comfortably, attaining a better work-life balance, and feeling more connected in your relationships. Although my main focus is working with Black women undergoing change, I also treat children and teens whose lives have been sidetracked by painful life events.

Living your best life does not have to be a cliché, but can be your reality. I can help you get back to living your best life and get rid of what’s holding you back, By exploring your experiences, beliefs, thoughts, and emotions and connecting them to the story you tell yourself about your life, I can help you develop a more satisfying story. I am here to listen and to support you.

I provide a safe space for you to think out loud to explore your emotions and life circumstances. In my approach, I take the time to get to know you on a deeper level to truly understand your challenges and your strengths. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs and to develop specific attainable strategies to move you closer to your goals. I recognize how challenges arise from experiences with oppression based on race, ethnicity, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and different abilities, and will support you in advocating and working with you to obtain the systemic support you need.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.
